IBEW 596 – Clarksburg

The IBEW Clarksburg Joint Apprenticeship Committee takes applications year round but only on the first Tuesday of each month.  Those interested should apply at the IBEW 596 Union Hall on 1001 North 12 Street in Clarksburg between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM. Here is the most recent IBEW 596 notice.
The five year program teaches all aspects of the electrical trade include general wiring for receptacles, switches and breaker boxes, working with conduit, motor controls and fire alarms, and a complete understanding of all aspects of the trade.
Apprentices learn on the job under the supervision of journeymen and attend classes two nights per week from September to May.
The following requirements are typical for individuals applying to be accepted into apprenticeship:

Applicants must be at least 18 years old (birth certificate required) and have a high school degree or GED and show they have passed a full year of high school Algebra (official transcript required.
Original transcripts, diplomas or GED records will be required  to apply .
Credit for Military experience may be available if a DD-214 form is filed.
A WV drivers license is mandatory as well as a $25 application fee.
Applicants must reside within the jurisdiction of IBEW Local 596:  Barbour, Doddridge, Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Monongalia, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, Taylor, Tucker or Upshur County.

Applicants meeting the basic requirements will be scheduled for an interview by the committee.
