WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital Unveils $23M Surgical Suite Upgrade

In early May, WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of its newly renovated surgical suites, following a $23 million investment that brought the facilities up to modern healthcare standards.

Grae Con Construction performed the upgrades to WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial surgical suitesThis major project was delivered by Grae-Con Construction and spanned more than two years. It includes five fully updated operating rooms and two advanced procedural suites, plus new pre-operative and post-operative recovery areas designed with both patients and medical staff in mind.

State-of-the-Art Surgical Technology Comes to the Ohio Valley

Hospital CEO and President Tony Martinelli emphasized the transformation during the ribbon-cutting event. “If you look through them, they look nothing like they did at the beginning of this project,” he said. “They’re beautiful spaces, totally up to date and with all the modern technologies you want if a loved one is having surgery.”

Among the cutting-edge surgical technologies now in use:

  • The Da Vinci Surgical Robot
  • Two ROSA Robotic-Assisted Orthopedic Surgery Systems
  • Upgraded pre-op and PACU areas featuring the latest in patient monitoring tech

Martinelli also noted improvements to staff facilities, including renovated break rooms and expanded patient care zones. “We can now accommodate more pre-op patients in the morning and more post-op recovery in the afternoon,” he added, ensuring better use of space and efficiency throughout the day.
